Welcome to the Equinox Wildfires, China, Elections ...the Future will be Here Tomorrow
Kimberley got pretty close to the future this summer: climate change is real. Mayor McCormick shares some the lessons we've learned about coping with potential disasters. He also talks a bit about the economic impact of our fire season.
On a brighter note, McCormick is off this month to China exploring opportunities (and funding resources) for making Kimberley a centre for international education. And the other good news is that 15 people are running for postionss on the city council. The age of the candidates skews younger than the current council and their candidacies seem more focused toward building on what's been achieved .
In short, a full measure of challenges and opportunities. |

Kimberley Elections We've completed our discussions with candidates who accepted the offer below. Both mayoral candidates, two candidates for school trustee and 8 of the candidate for councillor sat down with us. There were, strangely, two no-shows and one candidate is ill. We now expect to have these recordings avail to you on Tuesday, October 9. We learned a lot ... hope you will too.
On September 27 we sent out the following email to candidates for council and mayor of Kimberley and trustee of the local school district:
